In line with the commemoration of the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour this 2021, the ITUC-Asia Pacific launches the #EndChildLabour Poster Competition on 12 May to raise awareness on the urgent need to take action to eliminate child labour in Asia and the Pacific.
ITUC-Asia Pacific believes that visual arts can be an effective tool to communicate the important message of eliminating child labour in Asia and the Pacific region, where millions of children, often driven by poverty, are working in spite of their young age. For instance, based on the estimates of UNICEF, over 41 million children aged 5 to 14 years old in South Asia are engaged in child labour.
Artists aged 18 to 34 years old (as of 12 June 2021) are invited to join the #EndChildLabour Poster Competition and be part of a global movement that campaigns for the elimination of child labour.
The winners will be announced on 12 June 2021, the World Day Against Child Labour. They will be selected based on the poster's relevance to the theme, visual impact and creativity, and originality.
