The ITUC-AP expresses concern over the increasing incidence of anti-union violence by and/or with the acquiesce of the police and the government attitude of criminalizing public demonstrations, strikes, and other trade union activities. They condemn the harassment, intimidation, and police action against Said Iqbal, KSPI President and ILO Governing Body Member.
They urge the Indonesian authorities to stop actions of criminalizing legitimate trade union activities. They demand of the Indonesian government to withdraw all changes against Said Iqbal and other union activists, and appeal for a dialogue with trade unions on all pending workers’ rights issues.
