The ITUC-AP recognizes the increasing involvement and participation of women in trade union programs at various levels and the significant improvement of participation rates at the national/affiliates level. This is while recognizing that despite this, there are still disparities between individual programs particularly at a regional level where women’s participation is much less.
In this light, it is acknowledged that there is a need to: build the capacity and knowledge of women in other areas; monitor and assess the women’s ability to contribute to and influence discussion content and outcomes; ensure that gender perspectives are reflected in program documents and discussions; have the ITUC-AP and affiliates to encourage women’s participation and develop a screening for all supported programs.
