20th Regional General Council - THE ELIMINATION OF NUCLEAR WEAPON

In this resolution, the ITUC-AP Regional General Council in its 20th meeting from 10-11 March, 2021 welcomes the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) which entered into force on 22 January 2021 and calls for the international community to be fully and seriously committed to pushing for the signing and ratification of the TPNW.

The ITUC-AP Regional General Council calls urgently for an agreement on a roadmap towards the total elimination of nuclear weapons at the forthcoming review conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and requests that the ITUC-AP, the ITUC, and its member organisations continue building workers’ power and raising their voices in solidarity for peace, disarmament, democracy, and rights everywhere towards the elimination of nuclear weapons.
