In this resolution, the ITUC-Asia Pacific raises its concern over the rampant violation of human and labour rights of the Afghan people, including the brutal crackdown on protests and the suppression of fundamental freedoms. It urges the international community to take decisive action to prevent human rights abuses in Afghanistan and the world’s leaders to welcome to their countries Afghan refugees who fled Afghanistan for their security.
The resolution also urges the ITUC-Asia Pacific affiliates to stand in solidarity with the National Union of Afghanistan Workers and Employees as it continues its struggle for legal existence and recognition, restoration of its license, and return of confiscated properties as recommended by ILO Governing Body in June 2022.
