27th Regional General Council: Resolution No. 1 - For a World Free from Nuclear Weapons

The Resolution, For a World Free from Nuclear Weapons, recalls the devastation wrought by the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and stresses the enduring lessons of peace and disarmament. It welcomes the awarding of the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize to Nihon Hidankyo, recognising decades of advocacy by atomic bomb survivors for nuclear abolition. It also urges governments to ratify the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW) and calls on affiliates to sign the Ten Million Signature Campaign for the Elimination of Nuclear Weapons, reaffirming workers’ role in the global movement for peace
