In this resolution, the ITUC-AP Conference reiterates that there is no substitute for genuine trade unions formed as freely chosen associations of workers through democratic participation.
The Conference commits the ITUC-AP to accord utmost priority to organising, to launch targeted initiatives to organise women into trade unions, to allocate union funds to organising, to launch targeted initiatives to bring in workers in informal economy etc., to disseminate case studies on organising successes, to campaign for bringing amendments to legal or institutional frameworks regarding workers, to support organising activities and capacities of trade unions, to initiate and support actions to achieve an institutional and political environment conducive to freedom of association and right to collective bargaining, to accord priority to organising informal workers, to assist affiliates, to launch international coordinated organising initiatives, and support and encourage special campaigns aimed at young workers.
