In this resolution, the ITUC-AP expresses strong solidarity with the 2,646 dismissed Ssangyong workers who fought for their reinstatement, after dishonest claims of urgent business exigencies or a business fraud, where not a single worker has been recalled despite the continuous death toll and the passage of seven years.
With this, the Conference urges the Indian company Mahindra & Mahindra, which acquired Ssangyong Motor in 2010, to assume responsibility on workers’ employment, wage, and working conditions as a major shareholder, as well as to reinstate all the dismissed workers who have suffered for over seven years, and withdraw the damage claim of 4.7 billion KRW against the said workers.
