In this resolution, the ITUC-AP expresses deep concern about the proposed disinvestment in the public sector, the Indian railways, defence production, and financial institutions, after discussing the reports and proposed amendments to labor legislation by the Government of India. It is further noted that these proposals are anti-labor and anti-trade union, which led to all national trade union centers to jointly hold two one-day and one two-day all-India strikes.
Apart from the strikes in September 2015, this also sparked an all central government employees indefinite strike from November 23 2015 for implementation of the 7th CPC recommendations. The Conference therefore urges the Government of India to reexamine all proposed amendments in labor laws in light of the representation and sentiments given by the joint Indian trade unions.
