In this resolution, the ITUC-AP conveys condolences to the bereaved and expresses profound grief over the unnecessary loss of 315 workers’ lives brought about by the deadly Karachi Inferno of Ali Enterprise -- the second largest industrial accident in the world. The Council condemns the failure of the Labor Inspection System and International monitoring system under Certification of SA 8000, and urges the Government of Pakistan for proper implementation of safety standards laws in factories and the International organization for the effective enforcement of their standards for the workers safety and welfare.
