Four years after the military forcibly seized power, the people of Myanmar continue to suffer severe violations of their human and labour rights. Migrant workers are being forced to send a portion of their earnings back to Myanmar, while citizens are subjected to mandatory military conscription. The junta has also intensified its crackdown on digital freedoms by enacting cybersecurity policies that ban Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), further restricting the right to free expression and assembly.

Amid the continuous efforts by the International Labour Organization (ILO) since 2021, the junta has made no significant progress in addressing human and labour rights violations, raising increasing concerns about the legitimacy of the upcoming elections.

Our latest infographic outlines key events in Myanmar from 2024 up to early 2025, alongside the measures taken by the ILO to confront the worsening conditions faced by the people of Myanmar.
