In this statement, the ITUC-AP celebrates the historic values and and achievements of the international trade union movement and reaffirm its commitment to organise workers everywhere and support their fights for democratic rights. It marks May Day in difficult circumstances from the COVID-19 pandemic, to the threat to democracy and human rights in Myanmar, Hong Kong, the Philippines, India, and Cambodia.
In these challenging times, the ITUC-AP states that the trade unions’ strong solidarity in advocating for the workers’ agenda can be an antidote to the current ailing economy, society, and planet.
