Four years after the military coup, workers in Myanmar continue to endure extreme repression. Trade union leaders are being jailed, tortured, and forced into hiding, while fundamental labour rights have been systematically dismantled. The junta has silenced workplace activism through violence, arrests, and fabricated charges, leaving workers with no protection against exploitation.

Our latest infographic sheds light on:

  • The persecution of trade unionists – Union leaders have faced repeated arrests and harsh prison sentences, while others have suffered brutal torture and sexual violence.
  • Attacks on labour rights – Protests and strikes have been crushed, collective bargaining agreements revoked, and trade unionists labeled as enemies of the state.
  • Unchecked workplace abuses – Hundreds of violations have been documented in Myanmar’s supply chains, including forced overtime, wage theft, illegal dismissals, and sexual harassment, with no recourse for justice.

Workers in Myanmar continue to resist, even in the face of extreme danger. The international community must stand in solidarity and demand justice.
