The ITUC and ITUC-Asia Pacific jointly organised the National Organising Academy (NOA) in Nadi, Fiji from 20 to 21 October 2023, as part of their efforts to reinforce that building workers’ power is essential in delivering a New Social Contract. Fourteen lead organisers from different sectors affiliated with Fiji Trades Union Congress (FTUC) actively participated in the training.

Grounded on the overall framework of building workers’ power to advance a new social contract, the NOA covered various topics, including analysis and action, corporate research, organising for a just transition, and organising business process outsourcing (BPO) workers.

Participants discussed the current campaigns initiated by FTUC such as the campaigns on labour law reforms and national minimum wage and organising BPO workers. In the discussions, they identified common challenges and developed responses to those challenges.
